Spring Conference Recognitions

  1. Award of Achievement: The Award of Achievement is presented to board members who have completed a rigorous array of training and leadership positions. The Master Board Member Award has still more rigorous standards and can be sought using the same application. The deadline for application for the 2010 Award is January 22.   2. Milestone Service Awards: Board members are recognized for 10, 15, and 20 years of service. No application is required. The awards are issued based on the OSBA database.
  3. Outstanding Teachers of Central Region: These are teachers from the region who were nominated for Ohio Teacher of the Year, a program administered by the Ohio Department of Education. To honor one of your teachers, nominate them for Ohio Teacher of the Year. An application is available at the Ohio Department of Education Web Site.
  4. NSBA Board Member Recognition. Presented to board members who can demonstrate service and development including attendance at NSBA annual conferences. The number of awards per year are limited and competitive.

Fall Conference Recognitions

  1. Outstanding Board Members: Nominations are distributed in the spring by OSBA. A copy of the form may be downloaded by clicking here: Outstanding Board Member Nomination.
  2. Outstanding School Employee: This award is aimed at any school employee other than a teacher or a board member (they have separate awards). The region chooses up to 5 honorees each year from the nominations received from Central Region Districts. Deadline for nominations is July 1, 2010.   3. Friend of Public Education:This award is designed for individuals who are not school employees, but who have given tremendous support to public education in a district, region, or the state. The region chooses up to five honorees from those nominated for this award. Deadline for nominations is July 1, 2010.   4. Outstanding Schools of Central Region: The region recognizes schools that were honored during the previous year by national magazine ratings and by the state superintendent. A special plaque is presented to districts triply honored. No application is required for this award. Central Region collects the recognitions from the sources.
  5. Outstanding School Programs. These are programs selected for the 2010 Capital Conference. Applications are available from OSBA in late winter/early spring 2010. To inquire about this award, contact Kathy LaSota at OSBA (614-540-4000)
